Well i'm almost two weeks into this training lark...and boy is it torture!after the first few sessions up and down my hill i managed to eventually get to the gym, first time in years and i overdid things a wee bit. Could hardly walk for a few days, felt about 40 years older than i am, but back to normal now. Last night i went back and took things a wee bit slower, and tried different equipment out as well. If nothing else comes of this at least i'll know how to climb stairs while moving my arms backwards and forwards at an alarming rate! Some of the machines in the gym really are a science unto themselves. You need to be able to programme the thing just to make any sort of sense of the information it spits out as you use it. The treadmill for instance, can count calories, distance in Miles and KMs, can tell you the rate you were running at(slow jog in my case)and also the total time you have been running. Same goes for the rowing machines and the ski-stepper machine. The last one, once you get it moving has you moving in a jogging type motion with your feet on these pedals, while there are two poles, like ski poles that your meant to be able to hold onto...co-ordination is a must if you don't want a bang in the elbow as the whole thing moves in time as you run/jog on it! Once you get a good speed going, the next trick is to try and make it stop without throwing you into the air....dangerous thing this excersise lol Progressing onto the step machine tomorrow, what joy that promises to be. Not strained anything toooo important so far Linda....but i'll keep you posted lol
